| Well guys, I have regular XBOX, and on one of my franchises, I simmed ahead to the draft (using madden created players), and check this out:
FS - Both Top 10 Name 40 time Shuttle Cone Riddle 4.56 3.92 7.08 Miles 4.55 3.90 7.06
SS - Both 1st rounders projected Name 40 time Shuttle Cone Bennett 4.40 4.06 6.88 Parrish 4.44 4.01 7.08
Now look at their Madden ratings once signed:
FS - Riddle 86 OVR, 82 Spd, 88 Agi, 90 Accel FS - Miles 83 OVR, 88 Spd, 79 Agi, 91 Accel SS - Bennett 84 OVR, 88 Spd, 87 Agi, 82 Accel SS - Parrish 83 OVR, 92 Spd, 87 Agi, 85 Accel
From what I can differ, I'm guessing that the 40 times are Speed (duh), Shuttle probably Acceleration, and Cone probably Agility. Here is what I found interesting: Parrish, who ran a 4.44 compared to Bennett's 4.4 flat 40, is actually 4 points faster than Bennett. Then, looking at Riddle's 79 Agi, compared to Miles' 88 Agi, and on the tests he only ran .02 slower in the cone. Essentially, What I can say is this: though the times are ball-park estimates, they are NOT the final indication on how well a player will be. Basically, I suggest people pick based on needs, round projection, and gut feelings, in addition to asking for the guy with the fastest 40. You never know how a player will turn out. Myself, out of all of those, I would have liked to have gotten Parrish, but based on ratings, he would have been probably my 2nd choice, after Bennett. Just a little-tidbit I explored. I myself would personally go after a player with the fastest 40, but also explore the other two tests, to see that you will be getting a decent ball-park all around player, but its not the final say-so.
My warning is this: If you are debating between two guys, and they are both similar heights, weights, ages, etc. Just go ahead and pick the guy you like more, even if he's listed 2nd in the round (like the second guy in his position in round one). You never know, he could be like Parrish and end up being better at speed, agi, accel, even if he's 1 point lower OVR. Now, Bennett may be a more physical CB, with better STR, etc. So if you look at that as well, you may disregard my test. And, keep in mind, this is on a regular XBOX, so I have no idea what the ratings would be like on 360. But, just a little experiment I did myself, and decided to share the results.

| I go by 40 times. That's the players speed and that's how I base most of my picks. | |

Indeed. The one rating that never changes, bar one point up or down (and rare at that). But, like my test showed: 4.40 = 88 speed 4.44 = 92 speed Go figure. Generally, if guys are within just a very few hundredths of a second, you never know.

Nope. I figured going in that the ratings would correspond directly to the final, numerical stat. Apparently, like I mentioned, its just a "ball-park" estimate, kinda like some players are actually faster than they run their 40, and vice versa. Now, I don't suggest getting a 4.6 guy hoping to have him be 93 speed, but like I said, its an estimate.

| ... No man. The lower your 40 that faster you are. By the way your going... your saying that all the 300 pound lineman who round 5.2s have like 120 speed. It's 4.40 is 92ish speed and 4.44 is 88ish speed. | |

| hes not saying thats how it goes, hes just saying that with this test, he found that for some reason the guy who had the lower 40 had the faster speed. So you shouldnt base your entire decision off one simple relay | |

I agree completely, but this was just a part of it. Overall, yes, faster 40 = faster speed, but not all the time. I did NOT get the data confused.

Thats what it should be, yet the guy with 4.44 got 92 speed, and the guy with 4.40 got 88. This is not the rule, but it just shows there are exceptions, and you never 100% know.
